Exploring Istanbul’s most Instagrammable Spots πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡·

If you’re dreaming of a fabulous getaway filled with picturesque streets, vibrant colours, and stunning backdrops for your Instagram feed, then Istanbul is the place to be. One of my favourite countries I’ve visited so far, this magical city perfectly blends the old with the new, creating a captivating atmosphere that’s just waiting to be captured! So grab your camera, pack your prettiest outfits, and let’s explore the most Instagrammable locations in Istanbul.

1. The Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmed Mosque)
The breathtaking Sultan Ahmed Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque, is one of Istanbul’s most iconic landmarks. This building was constructed in the 1600’s, and remains a functioning mosque today. Make sure to visit early morning to snap photos of this stunning architectural wonder with minimal tourists around. The Mosque is still an active worship spot, so it will be closed to tourists during Prayer Times.

2. Hagia Sophia
Located right next to the Blue Mosque, you’ll find the mesmerizing Hagia Sophia. This UNESCO World Heritage site boasts stunning mosaics, towering ceilings, and a rich history that’s perfect for both history buffs and Instagram enthusiasts!

3. Balat District
If you’re looking for a pop of colour to add to your feed, head to Balat, one of Istanbul’s most instagrammable neighbourhoods. This area is worth getting lost in; every corner is a new spot to snap the cutest pictures! Wander through narrow streets adorned with rainbow houses, stop at local cafes and admire the street art that’s begging to be photographed. This is also where you will find Umbrella Street and The Rainbow Stairs. It’s an Instagrammer’s dream come true!

4. Galata Tower
This iconic tower is in Istanbul’s old district. If you want to climb the tower, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Istanbul, including the iconic Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. Or you can snap that trending photo from below; capturing the bustle of the city streets. Whether you’re capturing the tower from below, or the breathtaking panoramic views of Istanbul from above, every angle is a photographic spot! (and if you’re looking for a cute cafe in this area, check out Rose Papillon).

5. Basilica Cistern
Beneath the bustling streets of Istanbul lies a hidden gem for those looking for unique and daring photos for their feed. The Basilica Cistern, an underground water reservoir, is hidden under the Sultanahmet Square. The water’s reflections, accompanied by soft lighting, add an enchanting touch to your shots, making every angle an opportunity to snap mesmerizing photos.

6. Dolmabahçe Palace
Prepare to be dazzled as you step through DolmabahΓ§e Palace’s grand gates. One of my favourite palaces’s I’ve visited, this is an architectural masterpiece. As you venture inside, you will feel like royalty. The crystal chandeliers, grand halls, and sweeping staircases make you feel like you stepped back in time. Although photos are not allowed to be taken inside, the Gardens are just as grand! This is also where the famous Gate to the Bosporus is located. (It was closed due to renovations while I was there, but I was able to snap a pic from afar!). I recommend going to this site in the evening for sunset. You’ll be able to snap some beautiful shots and have minimal tourists around.

7. Topkapi Palace
The Topkapi Palace stands as a true gem of architectural beauty and historical significance. This grand palace, once home to Ottoman sultans, is not only a treasure of history dating back to the 1400’s, but is also an Instagrammer’s paradise. The intricate tilework, lush courtyards, and elaborate architecture provide a stunning backdrop for your photos.

8. Istanbul’s Street’s
In Istanbul, you’ll stumble upon incredible street art or beautiful architect at every corner. A lot of the photos I captured in Istanbul were on days I was just walking around with no agenda. Make sure you have a cute outfit on and your camera packed for when you stumble into that picture perfect backdrop!

I hope you’re as inspired as I was by the city’s timeless charm and captivating beauty. The rich blend of history, culture, and aesthetics found in every corner of Istanbul makes it a dream destination for any photography enthusiast. So what are you waiting for?! Book that trip ASAP, and happy snapping!
